Our Advanced Practice Safety Net Residency is modeled after the nation's first NP Residency Training Program started in 2007 at Community Health Centers, Inc. in Middletown, Connecticut. CHC, Inc. has created a robust model which addresses the primary care shortage AND provides residency training for NPs who will practice in community health center settings. We thank CHC, Inc. for pioneering this model, and believe it can be used to train Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

The term Advanced Practitioner Clinician (APC) in this context, refers to nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
